Petrographic description
Marble with calcite veins. Red-green pebbles are attached with same coloured cement
Elazig Cherry is a Breccia quarried in Turkey, catalogued in the Marmi di Carrara atlas under the international reference ICTRBR00010. Its dominant tone is red, with a veined texture.
Like every breccia, it is supplied as raw blocks, gangsaw slabs in 2 and 3 cm and cut-to-size pieces made in our Carrara plants. Recommended finishes: polished, honed, brushed. Typical applications: feature walls, floors, bathrooms, furniture tops, bookmatched panels.
Availability varies with the quarry campaigns: before quoting we check current stock, block sizes and the selection grade, and we send photos of the actual slabs. Price and transport are confirmed by our technical office within one working day.
Elazig Cherry: complete guide
Overview
Elazig Cherry is a cherry-red Turkish marble crossed by white veins. It is chosen to bring warmth and a bold touch to floors, bathrooms and decorative details.
History and origin
It comes from the province of Elazığ in eastern Anatolia, an area known for producing red marbles. It is widely available on the international market in slabs and tiles, often as an alternative to rarer European reds. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background is cherry red, sometimes tending towards brown, with a network of white or pinkish veins of varying thickness. The intensity of the colour and the amount of veining can change considerably between different blocks. Polishing gives a deep, glossy red, while honing makes it darker and matt.
Uses
Suitable for interior floors, cladding, bathroom tops, fireplaces, skirting boards and decorative inserts. In large floors it is often combined with light marbles. Not recommended outdoors or in the kitchen, where acids could dull the colour.
Care and maintenance
Use only neutral detergents: on dark marbles acid etching is very visible. A protective impregnating sealer and a wax for polished marble maintain the shine. Dullness can be remedied with professional polishing.
