Rosa Lugo Granite: the complete guide
Overview
Rosa Lugo Granite is a pink granite from Galicia, with a warm tone and a crystalline grain. It is chosen for paving, cladding and fabricated pieces that require colour and great durability.
History and origin
The name recalls the province of Lugo, in Galicia, a region of north-western Spain with a rich production of granites. The Galician granite tradition is ancient and has shaped the villages, churches and squares of the region. Today Galician granites are exported to many countries as slabs, tiles and made-to-measure pieces. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The pink background is formed by feldspars, with translucent grey quartz and black mica specks. The grain can be medium or coarse and the colour varies slightly from one lot to another. Polishing accentuates the pink and the depth of the crystals; textured finishes make it lighter and more rustic.
Uses
Recommended for outdoor paving, kerbs, steps, cladding and street furniture. At home it is used for floors, thresholds, windowsills, fireplaces and worktops.
Care and maintenance
Water and neutral detergents are enough for cleaning. In outdoor areas exposed to leaves and smog a water repellent is useful, to be renewed according to the product instructions.
