Kinawa Bahia is a Brazilian granite known commercially also simply as Kinawa, quarried in Brazil and appreciated for its distinctive banded appearance. The stone displays a rosy grey background crossed by soft, flowing mineral banding typical of its biotitic granodiorite composition, giving surfaces a calm, directional movement rather than a uniform speckle. This granite suits flooring, wall cladding, kitchen countertops, staircases and exterior work, and it performs well in polished, honed, flamed or brushed finishes. Marmi di Carrara supplies Kinawa Bahia granite as blocks and slabs in 2 and 3 cm thicknesses, cut-to-size pieces for projects, with photos of the actual slabs sent before purchase.

Kinawa Granite: complete guide
Overview
Kinawa Granite is a Brazilian stone with a white-grey background, dark veins and small burgundy garnets. It is valued for its brightness and elegant pattern, suited to modern interiors.
History and origin
It comes from Brazil and is one of the best-known light veined granites in international trade. Geologically it is one of the veined metamorphic rocks sold as granites. It is used mainly for kitchen and bathroom tops, where it offers a resistant alternative to white marbles. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background is greyish white, with dark grey or brown veins and patches and scattered burgundy garnets. Slabs vary in vein density and the presence of darker areas. Polishing gives depth and contrast; honing makes it softer and closer to the look of a light matt stone.
Uses
Excellent for kitchen worktops, islands, bathroom tops and interior floors. It can also be used outdoors with a suitable finish; as with other light granites, it is best to check the batch for possible oxidation of iron-bearing minerals.
Care and maintenance
Given the light background, an oil-repellent protector and prompt cleaning of oils and coloured liquids are recommended. Neutral detergents are sufficient for daily maintenance.
