Milas Lilac: complete guide
Overview
Milas Lilac is a Turkish marble with a light background and veins in lilac and violet tones. It is chosen for original, refined surfaces, especially in bathrooms and accent walls.
History and origin
It comes from the Milas area in the province of Muğla, south-western Turkey, one of the country's most important marble districts. Milas Lilac is widely available on the international market and is valued for its unusual coloured veining. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Appearance
The background is white or light grey, crossed by violet, lilac and grey veins, sometimes dense and wavy. Colour and pattern vary considerably between slabs: some are lighter, others more intensely veined. Polished, it enhances the violet tones; honed, it makes them softer and more powdery.
Uses
Highly recommended for bathrooms, wall cladding, vanity tops, interior floors and furnishings. The more heavily veined slabs work well in book-matched compositions. Avoid it outdoors and on heavily used kitchen worktops.
Care and maintenance
Clean with neutral detergents and soft cloths, without limescale removers or abrasives. A stain-repellent impregnating sealer protects the light areas. In the bathroom it is advisable to dry surfaces to avoid limescale marks.
